This weekend I just saw the new movie Inception which is still in theaters. This film is about the idea of being able to go into someones dream and experience it as if it is reality until you're woken up again. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, he plays in the character Cobb in the film who is known as the "Extractor". In other words, when everyone goes into these dreams it is his dream that they are in and he unconsciously creates the thousands of perceptions of people in his dream. Then you have people in particular roles like “The Architect”, “The Forger”, and “The Chemist” who will all help to pull of "the job."
Now I bet your wondering what "the job" is? Well in any case, a powerful company shareholder wants to change another powerful competitor's view on his own company so that he decides to give up his own shares and follow a different path in life because of this one idea. In doing so this would be called changing his "inception", where the name of the movie derives from. The reason "Cobb agrees to this is because he believes the man asking him to do this has the power to get him back home to America legally to live with his Children once again. Anyways, I don't want to ruin anymore for you guys, but I highly suggest you go see it if you haven't already. It is by far one of the best movies I have seen in a while and with no doubt I know you all love it to!
I definitely agree with you about this movie. It was one of the best I've seen in a very long time. The movie itself is kind of confusing and a bit hard to understand. Once I saw it twice and really thought about the actual plot it ended up being very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Inception yet, but the rave for it seems justified by your post. The thing that scares me is the fact that people can lose perception on reality. That's the only thing keeping me away from seeing it. I just think sometimes it's better to stay away from even the best movies if it can mess with your head.
ReplyDeleteThis movie is awesome, It's one of my top favorite movies. I actually liked it so much that it's all I thought about for a week, I wanted to understand every single aspect of the movie and during that I week I constantly looked up discussions and analytical observations on the movie, good stuff.
ReplyDeleteWell, first of all, let me say that I have seen this movie, and I might not agree with all of your comments. ALthough, the idea behind the movie was great and the special effects were awesome, the movie didn't develop in a smooth manner. Also, the theme of the movie was hard to understand and the movie itself was extremely confusing. Like any other movie, this one had its up and downs. I mean I loved how these people challenged science and messed with the mind, but at the same time I didn't like it because I couldn't tell when the actors were "dreaming" or actually "acting." I think that what I liked the most about the movie is that it gives the viewers a whole new perception of science, and leaves them asking themselves, could this be possible?
ReplyDeleteThis is also one of my favorite movies of all time. I found the movie to be confusing in some parts but I understood most of what was happening. I found it fascinating what they were doing in the movie and I wished it would never end.
